The Prodigal

Do you ever ache for someone's soul so much that you sob over them? God wants us to, because he cries over them. He wants us to see His passion for His children. Can you imagine seeing your own child make choices that hurt themselves and therefore hurt you? How much more does it pain God to see His creation wallowing in their own mud!! He has freely offered us eternal and abundant life and yet we choose the flesh instead of the Spirit. We will only know when we stand before the Holy Throne of God just how meaningless our sinful pursuits have been. Can you picture it now? Can you picture the judgment seat of Christ where he recalls all the good and the bad we have done on this earth?

Picture, too, the love of the Father and the Son for this people that the Son has died for. I have to be honest that I can't begin to picture this love and this grace. And because I can't come close to picturing it, I am humbled and recognize that I have a long way to go in seeing my own sin and my own need for the love that only a Savior can give. But I know from people who have walked in disobedience for a long time that they who turn to the Lord know His love much more richly than I do. I want to know this love that the Father has for His prodigal children so that I can be a reflection of that love to the lost!

Pray with me for a dear friend who will remain nameless who is choosing the mud over the banqueting table. Pray that this friend is invaded with the love and grace of Christ. And from there that this friend will give their life to the Lord in obedience and love. They are saved, but they are not following. I sob over the repercussions of this. Amen.
