This year's Valentine's was all about the food for us. I guess it goes without saying that good food is romantic and everyone knows we both are crazy about a good meal. But this year it was just what we've needed amidst a stressful past month.
Friday night was quite a treat- we went to Madden's and indulged. We shared the crab and avocado salad as an appetizer and it did not disappoint. I got the chile, coffee, and chocolate rubbed beef tenderloin served with black beans, green beans, and plantains. It was melt in your mouth amazing!! Greg got the angel hair pasta with crab and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had an excellent server and can't wait to go back sometime before we leave this town.
On Saturday we decided we weren't done celebrating Valentine's so we got ourselves a pork tenderloin and had a blast cooking our own romantic meal at home. Along with the glazed tenderloin, we made maque choux (avocado, corn, bell pepper, and onion with spices) and had an amazing bottle of red wine. AND I found a pecan pie at HEB that I can eat!! I took the lazy way out on dessert, but I was so happy to find something that I hadn't been able to eat in a long time. :-) We decorated the table and brought out the china and kicked on some nice background music.
I know that Valentine's is a commercialized holiday, but it sure did come at a great time for us. We've been so busy that we might have neglected slowing down and spending quality time with each other. It was much needed!
Sounds like you two had a lovely evening(s)! Never been to Madden's but you have me curious about it now...
