Greg and I joined a small group with our new church last night and came home so thankful for how the Lord meets our needs one thing at a time. I've been getting to meet a lot of great people each week but we still hadn't found a "group" to do life with. It's not like everyone has a "group" but things are so fun in groups sometimes. This small group is comprised of around 16 people who are all around our age and mostly still kid-free. They'd just finished an 18 week series on 2 Samuel, so last night was a celebratory mini golf and ice cream night! We met them at the mini golf place and immediately everyone was introducing themselves to us and getting to know us. I got paired up with 3 other ladies to play the holes together. Something just felt so right. We went back to one couple's house for dessert and ended up laughing about some of the peoples' quirky neighbors and just learning more about who each person is. My sweet husband had the beginnings of a migraine by the end, so I don't know that he had as much fun as I did. But we did feel right at home there, though. Praise the Lord!
Tonight we have the Communication Department faculty party! These are always fun times to see people outside of work mode. I am really looking forward to meeting more of Greg's colleagues so that I can put faces with names now. We are going to his mentor's house (which I've been to when I visited in May) for pork BBQ (yum!), and we are bringing our sweet potatoes dish that we always liked to bring to NWYM potluck's. I think it'll be a hit. I also saw a sliced watermelon I couldn't resist at the Market, so I'm bringing that, too.
My little social side is definitely happy now! Over the years, I find myself going back and forth between introvert and extrovert :-) I guess most people are like that. But I always feel like I'm on one extreme or the other. Either I'm really wanting to be around people or I'm really not. Right now I'm in a time of discovery and new people are a joy to me. I am also loving getting more phone time with my family and with friends from Texas!! I miss everyone a lot. I keep having dreams at night and each time someone else is in there. At least I'm seeing a lot of you guys in my dreams! And if you haven't started a blog yet and are reading this one...you should start one!! (hint hint to those of you who have said they might and I haven't seen proof yet) :-)

Love your sweet potato dish - it's become one of our favorite sides to cook at home!
