Tis the Season

Where have my weeks gone? I probably have had something new to write about every few days the last month, and here I am trying to cram it all into one post. Haha.

Rolling back to Thanksgiving- we had a great time with Greg's mom!! Liz came to visit us and to see where we call "home". We loved having her around for a few days and getting to share our new surroundings with her. We did the famous Central Market visit, toured campus (saw the swans and ducks at the pond this time!), looked at art galleries, ate an amazing dinner at Iron Hill (and a simple T-day one at home the night before), spent hours upon hours playing the Wii that his family so graciously surprised us with (Greg = happy camper), and ... went house hunting with a realtor! All so much fun!! We were sad to see Liz go, but we are excited to be coming back to Texas in only a few short weeks. :-)

House hunting has been really fun so far and a little frustrating at times. We weren't aware of how much closing costs are! It's double what I expected, but I think that's mostly because I didn't know that you usually have to escrow a year's worth of property taxes and homeowner's insurance up front. Anyone know how to get around that?!? We saw one house that we looooved but the money side of things won't work for that one. Sad day. If it had been in a lower tax neighborhood or had lower utility costs we might have thought about it. But we still have a few months before the tax credit offer expires, so we are waiting on the Lord to show us where we are to live.

We got our Christmas tree up! I absolutely love decorating the Christmas tree each year. The lights are so calming and enchanting to me. We always turn on Christmas music, make hot chocolate, and enjoy looking at all the old ornaments as we place them one by one on the tree. Sadly the only place in the townhome that the tree would fit was in our guest room at the back of the unit. So we have to turn it on and sit in there every now and then to enjoy it and none of our neighbors can see when it is on. But next year, perhaps, we will have a living room that accommodates a tree.
It is snowing buckets today. I still can't believe that Texas got snow before us, but it looks like we are getting our fair share this weekend. The roads will most likely be icy in the morning, so Greg will get driving duty to church and the grocery store! Our sweet Buddy wasn't sure what to do with the snow. :-)

Counting the days til we travel to Tejas! If you will be in College Station on Sunday, December 27th, leave me a comment so we can try to meet up! We'll be there for most of the day!!
