Surgery went well!

Granmama had her hip surgery this morning, and it went great. Thank you, Lord, for answering our prayers for safety and going beyond our expectations. The surgery was a quick 30 minutes where they made a 2 inch incision and placed 3 pins in her hip socket. They decided that she would be fine with a spinal instead of general anesthesia, and she has had an amazing recovery from that so far. By noon she was awake and talking. Yay! From what I hear, the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and all the nurses were blown away by her strength and her healthy lifestyle. At 92, she still walks a mile almost every day! Because of all the walking, her bones are full of oxygen and the healing from the fracture will be a lot easier on her than it would be on most older people. We all thought that she would be in a rehab hospital for a few weeks doing physical therapy, but the doctor has said that she will be released to go home with a walker in 2 days. I am so amazed. If you read my previous post for prayers, I thank you for praying for her. This all went much better than we could have imagined.
