Settling in

This week is the first week that I feel like I finally have some semblance of a routine back. Not that we do the same things at the same time everyday. But I at least kind of know what to expect the day to look like now. Greg went back to the office this week. So now I have long stretches of the day with just Emily, Buddy, and me. We've been out strolling in the neighborhood 2 mornings in a row (before it gets too hot). I've given her a bath by myself twice now. Poor girl hates bath time! Hope that isn't always the case. Today we are venturing out just the two of us. It will be the first time that I've driven since the day that she was born. I managed to do laundry (iron even!), clean up all the dishes, and shower (at least 2 out of the 3) every day this week. We had friends over for dinner and a game last night for the first time. Even though I was barely able to keep my eyes open at 9pm, I was so glad that we had them over. We've managed to watch The Closer every week on the computer. So I think that things are starting to get back to normal- a new normal. A normal filled with 1 hour naps in the middle of the night in between feedings, changing my shirt and Emily's at least 3 times a day because the spit up misses the burp cloth, rejoicing over a 5 minute shower, and finding absolute joy in getting to spend the day holding my precious daughter close. She seems to change daily, and I am soaking in these newborn days as much as I can! By the end of the week, she should be about 8 lbs. We are quickly working our way out of newborn clothes and newborn diapers. And I thought we'd never make it to the 0-3 pile of clothes or the size 1 dipes. Time flies!
