I really thought we'd made it to the end of reflux when Emily hit 6 months old. She even had a GREAT sleep week the week after we took her off the meds. I think it was a coincidence, though. After that, I started to see the spit up return, and the little gulping noise she gets when it all comes up and goes back down became rampant last week. Poor girl! Many times when I would lay her down on her back for a diaper change or to go to sleep, she would start crying. And she slept horribly last week. So I decided to get her back on Zantac just to see. It has taken 3 days to kick in, but we are back in business now! No tears yesterday or today at all, lots of long naps, and a 10 hour stretch last night with only brief, happy peeps in between! So nice....
We also tried bananas for the first time yesterday, and she likes them! The winners so far have been sweet potatoes, rice cereal, oatmeal, pears, peas (when I mix Gerber ones with my fresh ones), bananas, and butternut squash. She did not seem enthusiastic about apples or carrots, but she didn't reject them either. And the losers are avocados and acorn squash. I got her to accept the acorn squash, though, by mixing it with the butternut. Good thing, too, b/c I made a ton of the acorn squash and would like to use up those cubes. :-) Next up will probably by yogurt! Then I want to try the puffs and see how she does with those. She is just now working on a pincer grasp, and it would be nice to give those to her as safe items she can put in her mouth.
Tomorrow will be our first visit to the library for baby story time and also our first visit from the communication instructor.
