My first Mother's Day was a weekend to remember. I am super thankful for a loving and thoughtful husband who went above and beyond to bring me a weekend of relaxation and celebration. Saturday morning he prepared a bottle and got up at (before) the crack of dawn with Emily to start the day. I got to lay in bed instead of getting up to nurse and play! Then he had arranged for a surprise manicure and pedicure that afternoon. 2 blissful hours to myself... :-) That night we had a babysitter come over (rare occasion) and had ourselves a great date night. Went to Barnes and Noble to peruse the aisles and then indulged in a romantic Italian dinner complete with gelato. It was sooo nice to get out of the house just the two of us an not feel rushed to get back. That is the one perk about Emily ending her day by 7pm. We can now have a good amount of time for a date without feeling like we're out too late. Eventually we'll be able to leave her with a sitter while she's still awake and they can put her down for the night, but for now she still seems to need mommy to do this.
Sunday morning started in with getting to sleep in, too! And this time I actually did sleep in for awhile. Yay! I came downstairs and was greeted by the smell of freshly bakes waffles and scrambled eggs.
We stayed at home to watch the church service in our pj's, allowing us to continue to take it slow and allowing Emily to have a good morning nap. Then we all enjoyed the beautiful day outside at the park!
My mom also blessed me with a cookie bouquet on Friday! Needless to say those cookies didn't stay a bouquet very long. Yummy! What a fun surprise. :-)
It was such an awesome weekend!!
Sounds like a great weekend. Thanks for sharing!
