Southern Living cottage

I don't think I've ever posted about my job, which is sad because I like my job quite a bit. I thought I'd give you a heads up about one of the cool projects we are starting. Southern Living magazine does projects, giveaways, and mag articles that have to do with houses in different parts of the south. Our company, Jefferson Christian Custom Homes, was featured in summer 2006 as one of 3 Idea Houses featured in a huge special edition Southern Living. I began with JCCH in Jan. of '06 and we finished that house that May. Though I was on the tail end of the project, I had a chance to get really involved in the details at the end, because my boss was on maternity leave. I can't claim that project as my own, but I definitely enjoyed the experience I did have working with Southern Living.

Now we get to do another project with them! And this time, it's all me in the office!! We are building a casita that will be featured sometime in the next few months in a Southern Living give-away. So if you are not related to me, you should keep an eye out for it and enter to win! The casita is in Traditions Club in Bryan and is part of an entire street we've been building of similar-looking cottages that can be purchased and then rented out. We've already built quite a few casitas, so I am familiar with the construction part already. The catch on this one is that we will be working with Southern Living staff who coordinate sponsorships for various materials for the house. So I will need to communicate with national sponsors from various companies in order to place unique orders for this casita. I am so thankful for this opportunity to work on this project. I'll try to remember to keep you posted as we get underway.
