Proverbs 18:10 says, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe."
I was introduced to this verse last night at my first ladies' mentoring group meeting. I am so excited to be meeting with this group of women every 2 weeks this year. It is such a diverse group- age wise, professionally, personality-wise. I like the comfort of similarity, but I am stretched in new and different ways through diversity. Anyways, back to the topic on my mind.
We will be going through Kay Arthur's book, "Lord, I Want to Know You" this year. The book delves into many of the names of the Lord that scripture gives us to know and understand His character and His ways. The memory verse for this week is the one above. I love this verse! One of our leaders, Erica, pointed out that when you study the names of the Lord, you are really studying God's character, His goodness, His faithfulness. So to say that the name of the Lord is a strong tower is really to say that the character of the Lord is pure and trustworthy. He is and will always be our safe place!
Are you running to the Lord as your strong tower through the trials you face? Am I? Let us run to the Lord, calling on His name and proclaiming His character, because He is our safe place and our fortress.
