24 week update

We made it! If I went into labor right now, our little girl would have a chance at survival. I was hoping and praying to make it to the 24 week mark and beyond. And praise the Lord- everything is still looking good! I had my 24 wk check with a midwife yesterday, and our little girl's heartrate was 156. Nice and strong! Even without any caffeine whatsoever :-) I'm so proud of myself for giving that up these past ~ 6 months. My blood pressure was fairly low at 114/76 even with a somewhat stressful schedule yesterday. Gives me even more encouragement that I will probably not be subjected to pre-eclampsia during these last 16 weeks. 16 weeks?? That seems like nothing now! August seems far away, but when I look at that number it seems just around the corner somehow. I've enjoyed our 3 Bradley classes so far and feel much more aware of the labor process.

Every time someone has asked, "How are you feeling?" I have responded with a resounding, "Great!" I have truly had such a comfortable 2nd trimester so far. Just yesterday I did have a rough day with heartburn and other stomach issues. The midwife said I might even have the stomach bug that has been going around. She reassured me that baby girl is just fine even if I don't feel that way and that I just need to stay hydrated. If you think to pray for us for a full recovery, I would greatly appreciate it! A long night's sleep last night has left me feeling better today already. And having a gracious husband who would go out to dinner with me to meet my food craving instead of having bacon and eggs was a blessing as well. Who could stomach bacon and eggs when you are sick? Yuck! :-)

Happy Friday everyone!

  1. Libby! It's been so long I didn't even realize y'all knew you were having a GIRL! I am so excited for you! And so glad to hear everything is going well - it is definitely a relief to make it to 24 weeks. I can't wait to see pictures of her when she makes her appearance. =)
