We are glad to be official "participating members" at Newsong now! After completing all but one "Discovery class", finding a ministry, and being plugged into a small group for awhile, they decided it was ok for us to become voting members of the church. Wahoo! We went to our first church annual meeting tonight and got to vote on new elders, approving next year's budget, and purchasing a new building for office space so that the children's ministry can take over the office areas of the church. This little church is growing rapidly even after planting two churches in the last few years where some members have gone to assist in planting. Greg got to share a testimony at the beginning of the meeting about how God has used Newsong in our lives in the last year. It is starting to feel more like our church family now, and it was nice to be a part of the meeting.
One random thought I had this week- our small town of Millersville is growing on me. Though big city me still despises having to drive 5 minutes to get out of the neighborhood before I get on my way to any sort of modern shopping experience (which is usually at least another 10 minutes down the road)...there are some things about the small town that are a treat. One is our local grocery store. It is in a really old building and it is a family run business. The high school boys there are well-trained to meet you half way into the parking lot to grab your emptied cart from you so that you don't have to walk it back. They still use paper sacks instead of plastic bags. And everyone there really does have a smile on their faces. It reminds me of my local little grocery store in West U called JMH. We don't always shop at this place b/c it can be a little pricey on some of the brand name items, but it sells great meat and it's the closest place I have when I run out of something.
Another special part of our community is our little family of swans (geese?) that live on the golf course. I need to remember to stop and take a picture of them sometime. They cross the road that we take to get home frequently throughout the day. It's a momma and daddy and their 5-10 little babies. It's the cutest thing ever, and we get to enjoy this little family in our neighborhood.
Not too much to report on the pregnancy front except that - wow - now that Emily is putting on weight, my belly is noticeably changing each week. My midwife said on Saturday that we are still measuring perfectly on schedule for size. Her hr was 151 bpm, my bp was 122/85, and my weight was.... still in the normal range :-) I think I've reached my limit on reporting my weight gain, haha. Greg and I enjoyed getting to see her have some majorly powerful kicks and rolls on Saturday while I was laying down. That whole alien moving inside you description makes sense to me now. We could literally see things (elbows? feet?) punching out my stomach and rolling across. Totally amazing.
That's it for now! I should probably be sleeping already. :-)
